Check Your Credit Report!

Posted by: Dave Love

Everyone who has ever borrowed money to buy a car, a house or applied for a credit card or any other personal loan has a credit file.

Are there mistakes?  You bet there are!  My Personal experience tells me there are.  If I could shout it from the rooftop, I would.  Check your credit report as often as you can!  My latest credit report showed that Equifax had the spelling of my name wrong, a phone number associated to me that I had never seen, a bogus credit card delinquency and incorrect employment information.  This brought my credit score down and if I had tried to apply for a mortgage with these inaccuracies, it would have caused complications that were completely unnecessary.

What am I tying to say?  Check your credit file for incorrect information.  Do it now before you are looking for a mortgage and your mortgage agent asks you questions about your credit file that you might not have the answers to.

Here is a helpful link.  If you order the report by mail, it is free of charge but it does not come with your credit score.  If you want instant access to your credit report and score you can pay a fee and access the information immediately online.
